Waiting List and Deposit Policy

Deposits and Waiting List Information

Potential clients wishing to obtain an Abney Catahoula must be assigned to our Waiting List. To gain access to our waiting list each client must place a $100.00 non-refundable deposit. Your deposit is our assurance that you are sincere about owning an Abney Catahoula, and enables us to determine when any breeding should take place. Deposits may be paid in cash, check, money order, or via Paypal. Credit cards are accepted only through Paypal.

It is our policy to only breed when six (6) or more clients are on the waiting list. Clients are placed on the waiting list in the order of the date deposits are received. Puppies will be offered in the same chronological order, with the exception that owners of the breeding pair reserve the right of first choice of puppy or puppies. Although unlikely, this could result in an entire litter being kept. When a client refuses a selection, the next client on the list will be offered the opportunity to choose from the remaining puppies. This will continue until all puppies in the litter are placed in new homes. As puppies are chosen, those clients are removed from the waiting list, and everyone below them moves up to the next highest position on the list. If any puppies are not placed with any of the clients on the waiting list, those puppies will be offered openly to the general public, and no other planned breeding will occur until all puppies are placed in new homes.

As was previously stated, deposits are non-refundable; however, your deposit will remain valid until the day you choose an Abney Catahoula. Should a client be removed from the Active Waiting List, they will be placed on the Inactive List, where their deposit will remain until such time as they wish to return to the Active List.

Before placing a deposit with us, please be certain that you are willing to wait for your special puppy. We do our best to fulfill the requests of our clients, but, genetics being what they are, we cannot predict which coat or eye color will result from any breeding. Because there are so many variations within our breed, you may have to wait for another litter before you get that special puppy.

There are circumstances where a client may desire choosing from a particular breeding, or indicate that they are willing to pay in full, or offer to pay a higher price for the privilege of choosing from that breeding. We will do our best to accommodate each of our clients, but the chronological order of the waiting list will remain.

All of our breedings are performed with the intentions of producing healthy puppies that conform to the written standard, and improve the breed. The starting price on our puppies is $500.00. Higher pricing is determined by bloodline, titles, and/or accomplishments of the breeding pair. There are occasions where puppies could be priced lower. When this occurs, all clients are notified, and the selection process will begin again, starting at the top of the list.

When the puppies are four (4) weeks of age, the selection process will begin. You will be contacted via E-mail along with a picture of the litter and a brief description and sex of each puppy that is available, and a telephone message will be delivered. It is your responsibility to keep us updated with changes in your contact information.

When the selection cycle begins, and you are sent the picture of the litter, you will be given two (2) days to respond with a decision on the litter being offered. You are asked to choose two or more puppies in the order of your desirability in the event your first selection is chosen ahead of you. Should you require additional photos of the face and sides of particular puppies, I will do my best to accommodate you. It bears mentioning that I am not very good with a camera and puppies do not cooperate, but I will do my best. Once you pass on a litter, you will have to wait for the next litter.

All puppies will be wormed a minimum of three (3) times and have receive their first vaccination prior to leaving the kennel. Puppies may not be picked up at the kennel prior to six (6) weeks of age, or be shipped prior to eight (8) weeks of age. Each puppy will be delivered with its UKC and NALC registration papers, a health record, and a quart bag of the food that is currently being fed.
